One year ago, our semiconductor team in Manassas, Virginia, began work on a complex advanced manufacturing project that would challenge our people, expand our capabilities, and help shape the next chapter of TC Boiler’s growth in the semiconductor industry.
That year also brought major advances in semiconductor manufacturing. Micron recently announced the start of 1α DRAM manufacturing, describing it as the most advanced memory technology ever produced in the United States. Backed by more than $2 billion in expansion and modernization investment, the milestone reflects Manassas’s growing importance to America’s semiconductor manufacturing future.
Twelve months later, our team has plenty worth celebrating.
TC Boiler leadership joined our Manassas team for an appreciation event centered on the people behind the work. We served lunch, handed out raffle prizes and recognized 17 members of the Wolf Pack for outstanding contributions in leadership, craftsmanship, safety, quality, problem-solving and project support.
The recognitions were individual. The milestone belongs to the entire team. Because projects of this scale are never built by one department, one crew or one person.
They are built by a Pack.
One Team Behind the Milestone
Reaching the one-year milestone belongs to our entire semiconductor team in Manassas.
Every person on the project has contributed to what this team has accomplished. Our craftsmen and field leaders execute the work every day. Safety and QA/QC teams help protect our people and the quality of what we deliver. Project leadership, project controls, procurement, logistics and document controls keep an operation of this scale organized, informed and moving forward. And that team extends well beyond the project site.
Behind our crews is an administrative team supporting the work every day through payroll, accounting, human resources, recruiting, IT, travel, purchasing, compliance, communications and the countless details required to support a large workforce away from home. Much of that work happens quietly, but its impact is felt in the field every day.
The success of our Manassas operation depends on all of these groups working together. A project of this scale requires far more than what happens in the field. Crews need the right information. Materials have to be where they are needed. Documentation has to be accurate. New employees have to be ready to mobilize. And when an issue comes up, the right people need to respond quickly. Behind each of those moving parts is a team working to keep our people supported and the project moving forward.
Different responsibilities, different disciplines and different people, all accountable to the same job.
That is the Wolf Pack at work.
Recognizing the Pack Behind Our Semiconductor Success
With that larger team effort at the center of the celebration, we also wanted to recognize members of the Wolf Pack whose individual contributions stood out over the past year. These recognitions span field leadership, craft, safety, quality, project controls, procurement, logistics and administrative support, reflecting the many disciplines required to successfully execute complex semiconductor work.
Each recognition tells an individual story, but none of these accomplishments happen in isolation. They are strengthened by the crews, coworkers, leaders and support teams working alongside them every day.
That commitment has shown itself in some of the project’s most demanding moments.
Jubal demonstrated relentless determination when the team needed it most, turning challenges into forward momentum and helping the team work through difficult circumstances to keep the project moving forward.
Glenn has provided the steady leadership needed to navigate that pressure, remaining grounded through difficult decisions and helping keep the team, project and company moving in the right direction.
And Jose has translated that leadership directly into field execution, mobilizing crews, solving problems and earning the respect of the people working alongside him.
Their contributions are part of a much larger team effort, strengthened by the people working alongside them every day.
Quality That Protects the Work
Strong execution also depends on leaders who establish a standard and people who protect it every day.
Daniel has helped set that bar through his leadership in quality, reinforcing the reliability and attention to detail our semiconductor work demands, while John has been a dependable force behind that effort through the consistency and judgment he brings as a CWI Quality Inspector.
Juan represents that same dependability in the field, the kind of everyday consistency that may not always make headlines but becomes the backbone of a successful project.
The People Keeping a Complex Project Moving
Across the operation, others have taken ownership of the systems and support functions that allow our crews to perform.
O’Brien keeps critical work moving through logistics, procurement and material management, building strong relationships with vendors and trade partners while passing his experience on to younger team members.
Laura helps hold an operation of this scale together through document controls, specialty procurement and daily time reporting for 17 crews, while coordinating closely with QA/QC, safety and project management.
Raymond has strengthened our project controls efforts, securing field change-order revenue and developing cost workbooks that help turn field opportunities into profitable work fronts.
These responsibilities may happen away from the arc, but they are every bit as important to successful project execution.
Safety, Organization and Accountability
That same ownership extends to the way we organize and protect the jobsite.
Rubi has taken the lead on the project’s 6S program, reinforcing the organization, accountability and attention to detail that help our crews work safer, maintain quality and execute efficiently every day.
Jeff reinforces that culture through a coaching-first approach to safety, working directly with our people to help them understand not only what safe execution requires, but why doing the work the right way matters.
That approach reflects how TC Boiler wants safety to function across our company.
It begins before work starts, through project risk ranking, early communication, pre-job planning and project kickoff meetings, and continues in the field through daily tailgate safety meetings where crews review the work ahead, identify potential hazards and address changing conditions before work begins. Just as importantly, our people are encouraged to speak openly about hazards, near misses and safety concerns so the team can learn, improve and prevent incidents before they happen.
Leadership Where the Work Happens
The strength of the Wolf Pack is just as visible in the field.
Aldo has earned the trust of his crews and project stakeholders through his knowledge, professionalism and ability to get the job done right.
Efrain stepped into the semiconductor environment ready to learn, adapting to new testing requirements and processes while continuing to take responsibility and lead his crew.
Santiago brings pride and accountability to his craft, approaching demanding assignments with attention to detail and a determination to deliver quality work regardless of the challenge.
Alongside them, Urben has distinguished himself through technical skill, safety, problem-solving and natural crew leadership, showing the ability to take on difficult work, develop a plan and bring others with him.
Salvador strengthens the team in a different but equally important way, bringing reliability, experience and a willingness to help the people around him.
And Mark reminds us that the strength of a project is also shaped by its culture, bringing the attitude, energy and presence that help lift morale and make the entire team stronger.
Seventeen People. One Pack.
These 17 recognitions tell individual stories, but together they represent something much bigger.
They represent a team that has spent the past year learning, adapting, solving problems and taking ownership of an incredibly demanding project. They represent the crews beside them, the leaders supporting them and the people behind the scenes making sure the work can keep moving.
This milestone belongs to the entire Manassas team.
The people we recognized stood out for the way they contributed, led and supported others. But nobody reaches a milestone like this alone. Every successful shift, every problem solved and every piece of quality work delivered is connected to the people around it.
That is what we came together to celebrate in Manassas.
The lunch, raffle prizes and recognition were a small way of saying thank you for a very big year of work, both to the members of the Wolf Pack we recognized individually and to every person who helped make this first year possible.
Building TC Boiler’s Semiconductor Future
This project is also part of something larger happening inside TC Boiler & Piping.
As our presence in semiconductor and advanced manufacturing grows, so does the experience inside our company. The challenges our team solves in Manassas become lessons we can carry to the next project. People are developing into stronger leaders. Processes are improving. And the knowledge gained in the field is strengthening the teams that follow.
Projects eventually finish. Schedules change, work fronts close and crews move on to the next challenge.
What we learn goes with us.
The standard this team has established in Manassas is becoming part of the foundation TC Boiler & Piping will carry into future semiconductor projects across the country.
